Contemporary art residency programme and exhibition with Burghley House for 2013
An exciting new contemporary art exhibition ‘Fresh Take’ will be held this year at Burghley House featuring with 6 local artists. The artists, working in variety of media, will undertake a residency with Burghley House, responding to an element of the house interior and its history, juxtaposing the traditions of Burghley with current contexts, creating a fresh cultural dialogue between past and present.
The artists are being selected by open call process, with submission open to any contemporary artists living and working in the Greater Peterborough area. Submissions have now closed and the 6 successful artists will be announced in March 2013.
The new artworks created will eschew traditional approaches, and look to be innovative in medium and concept, providing a sympathetic but challenging complement to Burghley House’s exceptional collection of historic paintings and artworks. The artworks will be exhibited in Burghley’s Staterooms from September to November 2013. A series of events for the public, such as artists’ talks and workshops, will be held during the exhibition as well as educational visits.
This project is supported by National Lottery public funding through Arts Council England and also Creative Peterborough. For more information please contact Sam Roddan at info@artpopup.co.uk
