The stables at Burghley, designed and built by Capability Brown in the late 18th century, were unoccupied for many years. To make good use of these splendid buildings, they have been internally refurbished - although retaining all of their original features - and let to conservators and craftsmen as workshops. The Stable Courtyard now forms a centre of excellence of conservation and restoration that is second to none in this country. The presence of such talented workmanship at Burghley allows the Trust to make significant improvements to the preservation of its fine art collection.
