Important Visitor Notice: Partial parkland closure and temporary pedestrian walkway Read more

The parkland area at Burghley is partially closed to pedestrians and unauthorised vehicles in the weeks leading up to the 2022 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The closure, which is in place from 1st - 31st August and 5th to 16th September, is to ensure public safety during the site build and breakdown periods for this world renowned equestrian and social event.

Burghley House and Gardens - open as normal. The House and Gardens will be open as normal during the partial Park closure with vehicle access via the main Pilsgate Lodge entrance on Barnack Road unaffected.

This year there is a temporary pedestrian walkway in place to give access to Burghley House and Gardens from Stamford through the Park. Pedestrians will be able to follow a signed route around the closed area. The pedestrian route takes in the newly restored Lion Bridge, offering fantastic vistas of the House. Visitors can also pick up a coffee or cold drink from Burghley's pop-up coffee van which is currently positioned next to Lion Bridge.

The pedestrian route will be in operation from Tuesday 2nd August to Sunday 21st August from 7am to 8pm.

Access to the Lower Park remains open and unaffected up to the cattle grid via the Station Gates entrance on Barnack Road.
